Day One

Breakfast was the Roots and Fruits Juice.

I headed to the doctor and was diagnosed with Bronchitis. I was resistant to being prescribed antibiotics but knew that if I didn't take care of it now, that I would end up with Pneumonia which has happened to me in the past. I realized that with the juice that I was off to a healthy start so was a good patient and have agreed to take the medication for 10 days.

My doctor was impressed and congratulated me. I had chosen to go the juicing route. She is a firm believer of the Hunter and Gatherer diet.  Processed foods contribute nothing to the general well or health of the individual. I have committed to full blood work in three months time to see the results and to review it with her.

Lunch was Green Carrot and Ginger Juice.  I decided to experiment and made one serving of the Beet-ini. which was fun, i drank half of the serving but within less then an hour I had a reaction that lasted throughout the day. it was definitely cleansing my body! I didn't have fresh mint which would give it a more cleaner taste and it was quite thick in consistency.

  • Beet juice in combination with carrot or cucumber is on the finest cleansers for the kidneys and gall bladder.

Green Carrot Ginger Juice

Joe Cross's documentary has inspired me. When you are inspired, you share your excitement with others and you never know who you might convert.. Such was this case..

I had casually mentioned to my room mate about juicing and four days ago a new Big Boss juicer sat on the kitchen counter. The receipt for $60.00 waiting to be reimbursed. I had to laugh at the silly name and was curious to see if it could do the job that a Breville Juicer could. The Breville, priced at over $200 was something that I would aspire to at this point.

The machine sat in its box and I wasn't well enough to get the fresh produce I needed so the next night I went onto www.rebootwithjoe.com that I found the perfect recipe for the flu virus I was battling. I made a shopping list and once again, with encouragement.. the room mate went off to pick up the ingredients. Kale, Cucumber, Carrots, Fresh Ginger, Apples as well as Oranges, Spinach, Beets and Celery.

My juice of choice, Green Carrot Ginger Juice promised to pack a punch by building my immunity. Essential minerals; Magnesium, Calcium, and Manganese. Vitamin B6. Beneficial in balancing blood sugars, soothing an upset stomach, and preventing muscle soreness.

I was ready to begin!
Juicing Tips
  • Thoroughly wash all vegetables to remove any dirt or pesticides. Buying Organic will prevent issues such as pesticides and encourage maximum micro nutrients.
  • Remove any blemishes or dark spots. Fresh is always best and will provide you with the most nutritious juice!
  • Cut fruit in halves. Break other vegetables in sizes large enough to fit into juicer feed tube.
  •  Turn on juicer for 10 seconds before feeding vegetables into the chute. This will prevent the juicer from stalling.
  • Make sure to have container under spout to collect juice and monitor levels of juice to prevent spillage.
  • Roll leafy vegetables such as Kale into a ball and alternate with other vegetables to ease juice extraction and blend juice.
  • Serve and enjoy immediately. If you must, juice can be stored in a sealed glass Mason type jar in the fridge and be kept up to 2 days.

Served with Ice.

Cleanup Tips

  •  Remove pulp from machine. Can be used for the compost or baked goods. I haven't gone that far, I toss mine into the garbage.
  • Disassemble all parts, rinse and clean immediately. Trust me, its much easier to do as soon as you are finished. Once produce fibers start to harden, you're not going to enjoy cleanup!
  • Tiny parts in the mesh can grow bacteria so for healthy juicing and for the life of your machine, take the time to clean and maintain your juicer with all its parts.

Fresh fruits and vegetables taste nothing like the over processed, frozen or canned ones. I could taste each flavor and a bit more ginger was to my liking. I drank my juice, rested and tomorrow, I had a scheduled doctor's appointment because I saw no improvement with my worsening cough, sinuses and fatigue. I was curious to hear her thoughts on what was happening and I wanted to hear her opinion on juicing....

Blood Sugar Confusion

Today I worked late so I got up around 8:30 AM and did some things before work. I ate breakfast, 10:30 AM, which was later then usual in the morning so things started to snowball from there.

I didn't eat a morning snack or my lunch. So, by mid afternoon when a friend came to take me for coffee I thought, "Whoops.. I haven't been eating". So my in case of emergency bar was there and I ate it with a large cup of green tea. By that time, I should have been eating an afternoon snack but had already missed two meals!

Dinner time was at 4:30 PM but I ignored that and ploughed on with my day. About 7:30 I felt absolutely ill so drank a shake which calmed things down. Work finished at 9:30 and in the car on the way home I was STARVING. Normally, I would be tempted to eat fast food but instead drank my water with lemon.

At home, I ended up eating a meal and a snack. You know what? I am still hungry! I am going to drink some water and settle down for bed. Its now 11:11 PM!

Looking at my day, not the best..

10:30 AM Breakfast

3:15 PM Snack

7:00 PM Shake

10:00 PM Meal

10:30 PM 2 Snacks

Today is done. Tomorrow is a new day!

30 Day Meaurements and Weigh In.

After using the 30 day Cleansing and Fat Burning System by Isagenix, I have lost:

18 Inches!

That came from my chest, (largest change) diaphragm, waist, buttocks (second largest change), thighs, calves, knees. I actually gained one inch in each of my upper arms. Remember, I have been exercising at the gym as well since the middle of June so of course this is changing my body as well.

I have released 15 pounds of fat! ~That my friends is the most I have managed to get off since I had Gallbladder surgery 2+ years ago! I didn't need to step on the scale to have it tell me the numbers. I could tell from how my clothes were fitting and when it got time to use a safety pin to hold up pants that I wore everyday to work, I knew something was happening!
I feel great with that. It is a comfortable level for me and not too radical that its an unhealthy amount of weight to lose in 30 days. I noticed the weight came off in the first 10 days and then evened out midway through and then dropped off towards the end of the month. Now that I've been on the program for a month, I have now more knowledge about the program and how my body is working.

Portion control is a big thing for me. I will not weigh the food or count the calories but I can live with eating 1/2 cup - 1 cup of rice instead of 2 cups! Same with pasta. I also have to remember to get the greens in on a daily basis. Veggies aren't as hard for me. I can thrown them in salads, etc.. If you have been reading my blog, you will notice that I had a rough time going with parties and such. I've been figuring out how to eat healthier and make those times more manageable.
How do I feel? Health wise and Emotionally?

Joint pains have lessened. Skin is not as dry and any dry patches have cleared. Other then minor bouts of allergies from construction going on, I have not had problems breathing and have not had problems with wheezing while exercising. I have been monitoring my blood pressure and that has lowered. I sleep better and wake up rested. I am not as agitated and can handle pressures more easily. I have more of a social life and have been doing things I normally wouldn't have. I am putting myself out there more..

How did my 30 day kit last? Everything will hold out until the auto ship arrives except for the Ionix Supreme. Remember, I was doubling to 2 oz. instead of 1 oz. and gobbling too many Isadelight chocolates down. Now, I take them on cleanse day or as a treat. My current box is lasting me.

Yes, I will continue with Isagenix to reach my goal weight and I am happy with my results so far!

People are starting to ask me what I am doing to lose the weight and its really starting to show. This is only the beginning of my transformation.

Day After Cleanse Two.

Hungry when I went to bed last night. My stomach feels weird. I've had a lot of stress lately and deadlines to meet so not sure if its that or what. Just took my Ionix and will drink some water for accelerator. Then, going into the shake.

Snack was bottle of water and one chocolate.

Lunch was Tuna Steak grilled, 1/2 cup of wild rice and assorted veggies. Filling!

Dinner was before movie. I thought I made a great choice and now I realize after looking on nutritional value that the food I chose last time was 250 calories less then what I ate last night! Folks, these were small appetizers called Lettuce Wraps with chicken disguised as low calorie but carried more then an entre! Mind you, I did not drink the quantities of alcohol (3 drinks) like last time. Last night, one small drink with Diet Coke. Ok, Diet Coke isn't good for you. The movies came with popcorn that I didn't eat and the pop was HUGE. I drank some of it. Not much. Mostly went into the trash. Not successful. Now that I know they like this place before the movies, I will check out the nutritional value before I order to make the best choice.

Afterwards, went for coffee which I didn't drink. Drank bottle of water. One Tim Horton's chocolate donut. Ugh.

Yesterday, was not a successful day on the plan. I am staying away from Taste of Edmonton and did not go to Capital X's "Sip". I am working all weekend so it's totally possible! :-)

On a side note, went to Mama Mia the movie with friends and loved it! Its very girly, go see it! The part that was crap was Pierce Brosnan's singing. He sounds as though he should be songs about the sea. I should have known that after watching his interviews that singing in a musical is a very humbling experience after being James Bond!
